It is our pleasure to welcome you to the third annual Soch: Columbia Pakistan Symposium.
Since its inception in 2016, Soch has captured the spirit of intercultural dialogue and diplomatic exchange that is present throughout New York City. As one of the few conferences in the US to focus on Pakistan, we aim to foster constructive dialogue that can produce tangible change within Pakistan and the larger South Asian community.
With Pakistan entering its 71st year as a modern nation-state, we are eager to explore the fraught legacies of Partition and hope to discuss the issues Pakistan faces today whilst keeping in mind the ideals that Jinnah set for it upon gaining independence. Thus we are proud to present our theme for Soch 2018, Rethinking Partition: the Quest for Jinnah’s Nation.
Over the course of the conference we will explore the pertinent issues of the role of Kashmir in the future of Pakistan, the fight for freedom for religious minorities in South Asia and the struggles of the growing LGBTQ community in Pakistan.
Soch returns on March 31st, 2018 to Columbia University. Our team has been working tirelessly since September in order to make Soch a fascinating and memorable experience for all our attendees. Please browse our website to learn more about Soch 2018 and do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions. We’re excited to see you on March 31st!
